Another incredible, spirit-filled day in the Kingdom! On Saturday June 4, 2022 we had our annual talent show, a special project put together by the AMS (Arts Media and Sports) ministry. It gives disciples the opportunity to glorify God by putting their talents on display for the congregation and any visitors in attendance. Except there was a special twist this time around, as it was both a talent and fashion show.
Disciples were dressed up in a variety of attire fitting different seasons and some special events. To kick things off, Lobis T. Neal (host) welcomed us. Then Emani Fondon and LaSante Mitchell proceeded with a dance titled “Symphony”, showcasing their agility and coordination. After that, came the first category of fashion: the summer season. Where Carlos Aguero and Jasmine McGilll put on display Sunday service attire.
Then German Alvarez and Rubianna Martinez showcased summer e-dates attire. Closing out the summer section of the fashion show. Tai de Latour and Mia Atkins displayed summer streetwear. Up next our brother Jeremiah Richard showcased a thought-provoking masterpiece, an image of virtual art inspired by Isaiah 43:1; a passage speaking of the redemptive and transformative power of the Lord.
Then Marceisha “Mo” Howard spoke of her life experiences and how the grace of God impacted her life in a performance titled “Underrated”. Afterwards came the fall season attire section with John Williams IV (a.k.a J-4) and Selma Duru showing Sunday service attire. For fall e-dates Giovanni Morales and Corilyn Brownlee came out in style. Our brother Noel “CZ” Abdulahi and our sister Cindy Rebolloso put on display fall street wear.
Following them was a vocal performance of the song “Won’t he do it” by Mia Wilson and Danae Jeffrey just before the intermission. Afterwards, I got the opportunity to perform a five-minute solo on bass guitar. A piece I crafted myself titled ‘Counterpoints’. The final category of fashion to be displayed for the afternoon was: ‘special occasions’. Where Chimizie Kanu and Medara Etuk were tasked to wear some more general Sunday service attire.
Terrence Russell and Serenity McCarty displayed e-dates wear. And to close off the fashion portion of the show Kelvin Zhang and Emani Fondon came out in some very stylish streetwear. Giovanni Morales came on stage once again to perform a vocal and piano cover of the song, “When I was your Man” by Bruno Mars. Albert Davis read a series of poems he wrote about his walk with God in a very eloquent and spiritually stimulating manner.
Anthony Onunga closed off the show with a vocal performance of the song “Nenda Lote” by Sauti Sol. Overall, it was a great day. It was filled with cheer and applause as this incredible group of disciples showed the great gifts that the Lord has given them. Finally, a special thanks to Alessandra Kambundo and Camille Pilot for putting this event together, and for all the ushers and AV team members that made this incredible event possible.
