go and make disciples

Today’s service (6/13/21) was a huge payoff because of the announcement of Special Missions several months ago. All of the disciples in DFWICC have been working hard to meet their goals– in order to raise money for church plantings. Of course, this required some very creative thinking; for some it was donating plasma in order to reach it. While others planned ahead and used their savings for God (Mark 12: 41-44).
The Lord enabled us to reach and surpass our goal! The overall amount was divided into the different ministries, then it was broken down further into the Bible Talks. Finally, all the way down to each individual. Understandably, to any outsider this might seem odd. But we all know that, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward.” (Colossians 3:23-24).
This point was stressed further during Chris & Jessica’s message for contribution. When they urged us not to place value in things like money or material wealth (Matthew 6:19-21). I think Jessica said it best, “Value the Kingdom”. Furthermore, once we realize how fortunate we are here in America, there should be an even greater need to help those in worse circumstances (i.e 3rd-world countries).
Luckily, that’s exactly what today’s Good News Network video was all about. It showed us a small glimpse of what it’s really like for disciples around the world, and it reminded me of what our purpose truly is. Which is to save the lost world. Fernando hit the nail right on the head during his sermon, when he said that nothing is impossible with God.
He proceeded to illuminate some great examples, such as Moses– who had to save all of God’s people from the Pharaoh. Then there was Noah, who couldn’t convince his town of the incoming flood. One big enough to cover the whole earth; but his trust and willingness to obey God, despite being ridiculed, saved not only himself but his whole family.
At the end of the day we are to imitate the first century church. They followed God wholeheartedly and reached the entire known world (Colossians 1:23). After today’s service– we were proud to welcome our newest sister Shandaya Malone in the faith.
