Fairy tales

I think every princess wants to grow up and marry a handsome prince. Job & Erin’s relationship has all the allure of  a magical fairytale, but this one has God at the center of it all. Likewise, there is no shortage of spiritual wisdom to be found.

Job: My name is Job Sterling and,

Erin: this is Erin Sterling.

Job: We met in the summer of 2009, about twelve years ago, and at that time I was just finishing school; and Erin was transferring back from a study abroad at her school in Chicago. So that’s kind of how we met.

Erin: Yea, we met at church. It was my first day at service at the D.C International Christian Church. My first day there I placed membership from our church in Chicago, where I was baptized, and I met Job that very first day. So it’s pretty cool.

Job: Yea, I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember seeing her, and it was really cool. The advice I would like to impart onto the Singles would be to– be a servant to all. Just serve, serve, serve. You lose yourself in servitude, and God helps you discover new things, you know. About God, and about yourself, and about those who you are serving. It really makes you a well-rounded disciple as a single, serving, and helping others.

Erin: Yea, and I think a big scripture that I’ve always held unto is in Psalms 37, “When you delight yourself in the Lord, he will give you the desires of your heart. He’ll make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”

I think this is always near and dear to my heart because it’s so true, that every time I’ve chosen to delight myself in God, and remembering that he’s my great reward, God has blessed it. I’m grateful, he’s allowed us to live abroad as missionaries in our church in Santiago Chile, and have a family. So I truly believe that when we put God first he truly takes care of us.
