As iron sharpens iron
“Don’t be condescending, but be humble and peaceful to others.”
It takes a lot of talent and creativity to be able to make something out of nothing. Likewise, Viet thrives on all the opposition life likes to throw his way; and yet despite the many set-backs, he’s still willing to follow God and his people wholeheartedly.
Ricky: Tell me a little about yourself. Where did you grow up, stage in life, working, going to school, are you from DFW originally?
Viet: Well, my name is Viet. I was born and raised in the DFW area. Currently looking for a new job. I already finished school, so that’s a good thing. I just got baptized. I’ve been going through a lot of struggles after getting baptized, even though it’s been like four months already, but still.
I realized it’s really hard for people after getting baptized. It’s like, it’s really hard, and the struggles they really now realize they’re going through. What it means to become a disciple, to remain as a disciple, and not fall away.
Ricky: What are some of your favorite hobbies and something you would consider unique about yourself?
Viet: I still do Origami. I’ve been doing that since I was a twelve year old little kid. And I also like exploring different teas, and coffees; and rearranging, and preparing dishes. I don’t know, it’s just something after watching cooking shows– I like to prepare and get different aspects, and artwork, overall the work you would put in.
Ricky: Tell me how you were met/invited to Church?
Viet: I actually was invited by my twin brother after you– Ricky have invited him to a Bible study. And after you working with him. It both really helps.
Ricky: Describe your relationship with God prior to studying the Bible, and how it has changed?
Viet: Prior to studying the Bible, it was really, like, I was taught falsely. And therefore, I’ve misconstrued the understanding of what a life with Christ is. Granted, I do need a lot of work, still, after getting baptized. And I do read his work more, but I still struggle. I’m still a working progress.
Ricky: What are some of your favorite scriptures and why?
Viet: I don’t really have a favorite scripture, because God’s word as a whole is my favorite.
Ricky: What advice would you give someone who has started studying the Bible, or is considering it?
Viet: First I would implore them that– learn from my mistakes. But don’t look at other people’s mistakes as putting them down. Don’t be condescending, but be humble, peaceful to others. Read scripture, answer any question, get them in touch with the church.
Ricky: What do you love about the Kingdom?
Viet: Overall, the DFWICC and ICC entirely. Across the world and here in the states. Overall their realism. They actually travel through different states, different countries, to do God’s work. They’re not like shifting like the winds or the waves of the sea. There’s no false doctrine.
