Road to 100
With a lot of excitement in the air– it was easy to spot the look of anticipation on everyone’s face, as our banner “100” flew over the decorations on the back wall. To any unsuspecting passersby at the DoubleTree hotel, this may have struck them as a bit unusual. Well, since mid July 2020, with the arrival of the supplemental team to our congregation, we set a goal for the church to start growing.
We had been stagnant for a few years now; and the mission set out for us– was to go from 69 disciples, to 100, by the end of the year. Over the next couple of months every single disciple got to work, sharing their faith at every opportunity possible. Then within no time at all, God started blessing our efforts with more bible studies than we could count.
After many months of blood, sweat, and tears– we not only grew at a rapid speed, but we beat our goal by an entire month! For the Road to 100 service today (11/22/2020) we were at 99 disciples, with 4 baptisms happening after service. We stood in awe, knowing that God was with us.
The service itself was incredible, as Chris McCloskey and Jessica Ditto gave a fantastic welcome. Spurring us on to rely on God. “I feel like I’m at a championship sports game or competition. Except we already know the outcome.” Chris. Who could forget the moving communion as well, in which our dear sister Edie Dunn encouraged our faith with a scripture from Romans 8: 35-39.
Fernando Chavez preached a really powerful sermon today. I was able to compare my faith to Abraham, the father of our faith. The revelation was that God could use anyone, regardless of how faithless they may have been at first, like Abram. Yet, the first covenant was born out of his willingness to fully obey God. The same could be said for our movement today. God has been using us in powerful ways.
Today marked an important time in history for the Dallas ICC. God will continue to bless us with many more miracles, as we set forth to hit our new goals; these will be revealed at the 2021 All-Texas Winter Workshop, in Austin.
