What an incredible church service we had today. As with every Sunday, the room was filled with an amazing group of disciples who were ready to serve the Lord. However, today wasn’t just any Sunday. It was our Special Missions service!

Special Missions is a campaign which takes place two or three times a year, where churches from all over the movement raise funds to continue planting churches all around the world for the purpose of seeking and saving lost souls; ultimately living out the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

It is for this very purpose we live. It is a great joy seeing what an impact our individual efforts have in the lives of many all over the world. Our giving not only benefits those missionaries who are in third world countries, but it helps fuel new church plantings over here in the States as well.

For the Welcome, Job & Erin Sterling reminded us how much our constant sacrifice is a pleasing aroma to the Lord (Numbers 15:1-6).

Giving to God to help build His churches world wide has been a common practice even amongst the first century church (2 Corinthians 9:1-5). Missionaries such as Paul received a lot of aid from the giving of our brothers and sisters, and could not have done the work they did without it.

For Communion, Hector & Taylor reminded us that saving lost souls requires missionaries to go out and preach the Gospel, money to take care of their needs, and those with their hearts behind the mission can get behind donating for the cause.

For the Sermon, Fernando Chavez reminded us that we are called to suffer righteously for Him (Philippians 1:27-30).  The title of his lesson was “Most Worthy Mission.” He reminded us that, although we are not deserving of His grace; we should live lives worthy of His calling, and we should also be glad in Him. He is our strength and comfort (Psalms 18:1-3).

There was a secondary event that happened today too. Our brother Gio Morales in a grand gesture on stage– asked Corrian McCullough to be his girlfriend. Following that there was the baptism of Jaime Salazar. Lastly, today was Elizabeth Garcia’s last service, in just a few days she will be moving to San Francisco.

Overall, today was one for the record books, and the angels in heaven are rejoicing at our victory. With God anything is possible (Matthew 19:26), and I can’t wait to see all the victories God will bring us in the future.
