When Fernando made the soft announcement about our mission team, a few Sundays ago, the entire church clapped in unison because they were so excited. The brothers and sisters who were carefully selected (by God) are all strong disciples. Each one, including myself– have proved themselves in a tremendous way. Whether it be through consistent tithing, fruitfulness, an awesome prayer life, etc.
Ultimately, God was the deciding factor in helping the leaders choose us to trail blaze the UTD campus, starting in January. Ever since that day, our team has been bonding with each other while using God as the glue. One such instance, was during our first Family Time (when disciples get together). It was held at one of the brothers’ households in Arlington, TX.
During that time, all the official business of starting a mission team was discussed at full length. Such as: who will be discipling who, living arrangements, funds, etc. It was a gathering like any other, because we kept God at the center of it (Matthew 18:20). Then later came the pizza and breadsticks, along with buffalo wings and ranch dip.
It was really good and it came just in time, because we also played some games. These games were chosen with the idea of getting to know each other a little bit better. For example, we played a game called: Two truths & One lie. A game in which each disciple took turns telling the audience (us) three facts about their lives, and we had to guess out of those three facts which one was the lie.
Overall, it was a great time of fellowship, and with enough faith, God will use us to do great things at UTD. I cannot wait for Winter Workshop 2022, a time where both churches (DFW-ICC & Houston-ICC) will gather in one place. And these announcements (plus more) will be made official.
