Mary, the mother of jesus

“When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, ‘Woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.'” John 19: 26-27

Throughout history women have been praised for their impact on the world. Such as; Cleopatra, Queen Victoria, Princess Diana, etc. just to name a few. However, today we gave the highest honor to the disciples. The ones who serve God almighty and fear his name. It was very encouraging to witness all the mothers in the church (DFWICC) be lifted up. They were each given a rose along with a standing ovation.

In honor of Mother’s Day– today’s service was dedicated to all the incredible mothers in the church. The greeting was done by Tyler and Tahlia Jongsma. He read from Psalms 139: 13, a scripture referring to motherhood specifically. Afterwards, she read a heartwarming poem about all mothers everywhere. Then there was an inspiring video shared by GNN, celebrating more good news about the life of disciples worldwide. Following that, there was a secondary video put together by Marceisha Howard, celebrating all the mothers in our church.

For communion Job and Erin Sterling gave a very thoughtful message. He read from John 19: 25-27. He shared about his realization that Jesus really cared for all mothers. She shared about her gratitude for all the mothers in her life, because they taught her a lot about motherhood. Then Hugo and Paulina Melendez amped it up with an inspiring take for contribution. He challenged all of us to give back to mothers like Jesus! Matthew 15: 21-28.

For the sermon– Fernando Chavez pitched the final home run with a convicting message. But of course, not without expressing his gratitude towards the most important mother in his life– his wife and the mother of his three daughters Jackie Chavez. During his sermon he highlighted Mary’s purity; how she was a virgin when the angel chose her to become the mother of Jesus. Luke 1: 26-38. Most importantly though, was the amount of faith that she had, and the challenge was for us to respond with a serving heart. Luke 17: 7-10.

Of course, we couldn’t end the day without some new additions to the church. Today three humble hearts came to get baptized. It was an honor welcoming Anthony Smith, Briana Dominguez, and Casey Baker to the kingdom.
